How to use

Preparing

  1. Dowload the VISITaTOR package and unzip it into a directory which can be reached from your local server
  2. Copy a set of your log files into a local directory. See the Requirements section to choose the files.
  3. Open index.php in Internet Explorer (don't use Mozilla/Opera). Follow the instructions until you reach the result page.

Result treatment

On the result page you will see the cluster tree on the left, the detail page on the right and the optional query page on the top right.

Open the cluster tree by clicking on the plus sign. If you click at the group name, the corresponding set of pages and their rates will appear on the right.

By the character, content and rate of these pages you can interpret the group of visitors represented by this group of pages.

The groups will be named automatically; click on the "rename" link to give them the appropriate name.
The information about referrers and browser types helps to understand the group.

On the bottom right there is the "Show as a map" button. This shows the result of clustering as a diagram.
The page is dynamic. It shows the diagram with the group names you chose and can be saved as static HTML page.

The optional window with detailed information about a queried page shows the distribution of rates of this page in other clusters and/or at other levels.

The entire result page set can be saved in static form by clicking on the button "Create static result pages".
