2 simple tools for log data analysis

Log Browser

Click here to open the Log Browser window

To test the demo logfile, follow the link above and click on "Retrieve" on the left half. Please be patient until the data is delivered and parsed. This depends on your internet connection speed and computer performance.

Remember the requirements. Don't forget to set Active Scripting in the Internet Explorer settings on "allow" or "prompt".

After the data is delivered, the part "Options" appears. There are 3 options: select data only later than some date, exclude robot accesses and URL pattern. In this version of Log Browser the "Later than" option can only be selected once. Clicking on "Exclude robots" disables the "Later than" option as well.
The field URL Pattern lets you hide the results which don't contain the string you entered.

Click on one of the links below, like "All data", "Pages", etc. to test Log Browser. "All data" displays the raw data without grouping. All other buttons display the entries grouped by number of occasions. The displaying process may take a long time (up to a few seconds), especially for "All data" and "Paths".

For the first example leave the "Schema" selection on "default". This logdata represents the accesses to this site and was created by Simple Log Browser.

You can test 2 other examples. They use server-created logdata and represent the requests for the sites www.railroadstudio.de and www.nytingalemusic.de.

The URL for the second example is
http://www.fh54.de/LogSuite/home/4Log%20Browser/LogBrowserDemo/RRST.txt (copy and paste it into the "Logfile URL" field; select the schema "RRST").

The URL for the 3th example is
http://www.fh54.de/LogSuite/home/4Log%20Browser/LogBrowserDemo/nytingale.txt (copy and paste it into the "Logfile URL" field; select the schema "nytingale").
